Camp Shalom is hiring for Summer 2025!

setting, then Camp Shalom is the right place for you!

Camp Counselor

  • Camp Counselors are responsible for the overall supervision of Camp Shalom campers with the aim of providing a healthy, engaging, safe and enjoyable camp environment and experience.

  • A good Camp Counselor often has strong leadership and is creative in planning and implementing programs and activities for campers.

  • Applicants must be at least 16 years or older at start of the camp season, June 23rd, 2025 to apply.

 

Activity Lead

  • Plan and implement immersive and engaging age appropriate activities for all campers.

  • Activity Leads will work with each age group once to twice per week. Activity Leads are responsible for creating daily lesson plans based on their area of specialty and must gather all necessary materials, ensure that all activities are prepared ahead of time and are safe for children. Camp Shalom Activity Lead positions include the following: Arts and Crafts, Pottery, Sports, Tennis, Outdoor Adventure, Fishing, Ropes Course, Music, Archery, Motor Boat Driver, Wellness/Mindfulness, Improv, Cooking and Woodworking.

  • Please note that certain positions require a certificate and/or training in order to lead; the Mandell JCC will arrange and pay for any required trainings prior to the camp season.

  • Applicants must be at least 18 years or older at the start of camp season, June 23rd, 2025 to apply.

 

Assistant Chef

  • Assist the Head Chef in food ordering, preparation and serving nutritious snacks and meals, while adhering to kosher guidelines.

  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen and helps with dishwashing.

  • Applicant must be 21 years or older at start of camp season, June 23rd, 2025 to apply.

  • ServSafe certification required.

 

Kitchen Assistant

  • Assist the Head and Assistant Chef in preparing and serving nutritious snacks meals, while adhering to kosher guidelines.

  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen and dining hall areas; perform dishwashing duties.

  • Applicant must be 18 years or older at start of camp season, June 23rd, 2025 to apply.

  • ServSafe certification preferred.

 

Office and Transportation Coordinator

  • Works directly with transportation company to set up, make changes and adjustments to all bus stops and busses.

  • Supervise all bus counselors.

  • Direct communication with camp parents regarding scheduling, absences, camp administrative functions such as order forms and permission slips.

  • Must be proficient in customer service and basic computer skills; training on camp computer program will be provided.

  • Applicant must be at least 21 years or older at start of camp season, June 23rd, 2025 to apply.

 

Registered Nurse

  • Oversee the overall health and wellbeing of all campers and staff on site.

  • Review medical information, physician’s orders, forms and medications prior to camp season, ensuring all paperwork and prescriptions are up to date and following all State of Connecticut Office of Early Childhood Youth Camps guidelines.

  • Work as a team with Camp Doctor, additional Camp Nurse(s) and Camp Admin staff to create a safe and healthy environment for all.

  • Will be responsible for parent communication on daily basis.

  • Must hold a current RN license as required by the State of CT valid through August 31, 2025;

  • CPR/First Aid, Epi Pen and Medication Administration certification required.

 

Unit Head

  • Oversees all counselors and campers within their specific unit.

  • Ensures that all aspects of the campers and counselor’s day to day functions are occurring in a fun, safe and efficient manner.

  • Has direct contact with parents within their unit.

  • Responsible for planning and implementing unit wide programs and activities.

  • Unit Heads are part of the Camp Shalom Leadership Team and must be at least 22 years or older at start of camp season, June 23rd, 2025 to apply.

 

Facilities/Groundskeeper Team Member

  • Work as a team to help maintain camp facility, located on 75 acres of woods and waterfront.

  • Responsibilities include but are not limited to upkeep of property, landscaping, cleaning, and repairs.

  • Applicants must be at least 18 years or older at start of camp season, June 23rd, 2025 to apply.
